Plans to re-develop a disused Birmingham city centre rail station into facilities for HS2 have been approved. Birmingham City Council gave the green light for the current Grade I listed Curzon Street station to be developed into a visitor centre and office space for HS2 and other organisations.
A new-look Curzon Street station will eventually link phases one and two of HS2, providing an interchange on the journey from London to Manchester and Leeds. In September last year, Birmingham local authorities announced they would be pumping nearly £1bn into regenerating parts of the city located around Curzon Street station in the city’s Eastside district.
